Death of Alonzo H. Crandell
Died, in this city, at the home of his sister, Mrs. E. Rose, May 24, 1896 at 10:30 a.m., Alonzo H. Crandell, in the 70^th year of age.
Alonzo H. Crandell was born in the town of Brookfield, Madison county, N.Y., in the year 1827. At the age of six years he, with his parents, moved to DeRuyter, same county and state, where he lived until manhood. In September '51, he was married to Miss Matilda H. Sanders, who with his two sons and two daughters survive him. In April, 1856, he came to Corunna and has been a resident of the state ever since. At the breaking out of the rebellion he enlisted in Co G, 23d Regiment, Michigan infantry, as sergeant, being afterwards promoted to lieutenant, and served his country faithfully to the close of the war.
For the past three years Mr. Crandell has been in poor health and for the last two months has been confined to his bed at the home of his sister, Mrs. Edward Rose, of this city. All that loving hands could do has been done to alleviate his suffering, but Sunday morning the reaper came and took him from kind and loving friends, to one who doeth all things well.
